About CMRB

Biography of California Melon Research Board

Since 1972, The California Melon Research Board (CMRB) has been at the forefront of the melon industry.  The CMRB is an agricultural research organization based in California, operating under the oversight and authority of the California Department of Food and Agriculture’s (CDFA) Marketing Branch. Its fundamental purpose is to serve the state’s melon industry by funding and managing scientific studies designed to overcome critical challenges in production and shipping.

Knowledge Sharing and Accessibility

The CMRB ensures that melon science reaches the field through two primary channels:

  1. Annual Research Symposium:
Held in San Diego, where Board-funded project results are reviewed and future research opportunities are discussed.
  2. Digital Platform:
The Board maintains a website (cmrb.org) where research reports, diagnostic data, and findings are made readily available to all interested parties, promoting transparency and continuous innovation.
